We are close to some of the family, met Garrett a few times. He was somebody you wanted you son to grow up and be like. His Dad is taking it very, very hard. I would appreciate it if you keep them in your prayers.

A post on the Hog board, that's just how he was:
Before Saturday I have never heard of him and I didn't know the players stood outside the locker room and signed autographs? I took my 8 year old to the game and he loves Jake Bequette so I told him I would take him by the locker room and see Jake get on the bus. Well some of the players come by and sign autographs for the kids there. Most of the players were nice but you could tell they were in a hurry which I understood becuase they just played a big game and they were tired.

J. Wright and Hamilton were really nice and signed my sons book. Knile Davis took the time and talked and took pictures with the kids and was over the top nice and showed respect to the parents. (And he told me there is no way he was playing this year even the bowl game). But a young man walked up wearing #88 Sweats and my son asked me who it was and I had no idea. But he was the nicest of all the players. He said yes mam to my wife and yes sir to me. Took the time to take a picture and talk to my son about the game. He did this with all of the kids standing there. One of the kids had Down Syndrome and Garrett gave him a hug and took his picture. When we were leaving we looked up who he was and my son said he is now my favorite player.

When I heard of his death it was like someone I actually knew died. He is one of the nicest and respectful young men I have ever met. May god bless his family in this time.
